Musings on eschatology and the duty of the believer

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness…? 2 Peter 3:11.

♣ There is a standard expected of us as believers awaiting the Parousia; the second coming of the Lord.

♣ Jesus is coming back for only those expecting His return.

♣ Like the five wise virgins, it’s OK to say no when the cost and the fight is for your life; don’t compromise or be careless with the gifts God has graced you with just because you want to be polite or nice.

♣ The time is coming when we would have to do without technology and everything else money can buy because we would refuse the mark of the beast. Shouldn’t we be getting ready for that time?

♣ Since we wouldn’t be able to buy or sell, we may have to grow our own food, and stick together like the early Church, supporting one another. How prepared are we for that time?

♣ Considering all the anomalies prevalent in society today, isn’t it high time we stopped playing Church and got serious with our calling to be salt and light?

♣ At the end of the day, the love of money is still the root of all evil, and to only live in pursuit of it is the definition of a wasted life.

♣ When we see (as we have already) the signs as revealed to us by Jesus in Matthew 24, then we should get our houses in order because the time is near.

♣ The books of Daniel and Revelations foretell the events of these present times. If we are diligent to study and are prepared, we would not be caught off guard or taken by surprise.

♣ Must we stand before our Lord and Saviour empty handed? We need to take His command seriously to make disciples of all nations; pray that He sends labourers into the vineyard, and be faithful with the assignment He has put in your hands. The time is nearer than we know.

♣ Pray for Israel. Bless Jerusalem, God’s chosen city. No weapon formed against her shall prosper, and she would condemn every tongue that rises against her in judgment. She would not bow to the beast on that day. Her Redeemer is coming, and all Jews would be saved.

♣ Heaven is watching. Fight this good fight of faith. Run lawfully. Lay aside every weight and the sin that easily besets. Cut off whatever would keep you from entering into the rest of your Lord; because when you think of it, what is 120 years compared to forever?

♣ And please, take as many with you as you can, on your way to Heaven.

♣ As sure as the air you’re breathing right now, Jesus is coming again.

♣ The question is, are you ready to meet your Lord and not be ashamed before Him?

Clearly, it is time to stop playing around — and with Peter and Paul talking about “the last days,” how presumptuous of us to think that we have all the time in the world!
