Dear man of the house, I don’t think that assertion is very true.
I know it fixes a lot of things –
The stove.
The fridge.
The car.
Even torn duct tape….
(Plus there was that one time you tried to fix my broken heels with duct tape – it was then I knew you still didn’t get the chemistry between a woman and her shoes – but that is a story for another day).
So yes, I see that duct tape can fix a lot of things – ALMOST everything, but NOT everything.
You can’t put duct tape on adverse circumstances caused by poor choices.
Or on missed opportunities.
Or on the peace we forfeit when we let anger get the best of us….
I know that this is not a point we would agree on for a while, but we do not need those stacks of duct tape that go on nearly forever (I stopped counting at seventeen).
But we do need Jesus.
He can fix those adverse circumstances caused by poor choices.
And missed opportunities.
And the peace we forfeit when we let anger get the best of us….
And all that talk about “If duct tape can’t fix it, then it’s broke forever” – Well, you really do need to reconsider that stance.
Because I do know that there’s nothing my Jesus can’t do.
And there’s absolutely nothing He can’t fix – including the stove, the fridge, the car, even torn duct tape….
This made me smile. We are a family who uses duct tape for just about everything, but there are quite a few problems that can only be fixed by Jesus. Thanks for the reminder!
So good.
I appreciate the tender heart beating behind these words. And yes, there are some things that even duct tape cannot repair. So thankful that Jesus is the One who binds up the broken with something far stronger and more permanent.
;). Beautiful! If it moves and it shouldn’t, use duct tape; if it should move and it doesn’t, use WD-40 ;). But honestly, God CAN fix everything–he can move us AND patch us back together again.
Great post, Boma! While there are things in our life that do work to fix things, the ultimate “fixer” and healer is Jesus Christ! Thanks for a great post.
I loved this! My dad used to always say that duct tape fixes everything. You are right, Jesus does fix everything. He covers and protects us from further breaking or damage. His love keeps us secure. Great post!
I enjoyed reading your article. As I reflected on it, I thought how often we turn to other things or ways to find solutions and fix things. But as you suggest, we should first look vertically to Jesus, resting in the confidence that He will help us find a way through.
Sooooo true! And they make duct tape so cute nowadays–not just the simple boring gray color anymore! Duct tape can fix a lot of things, but praise God that Jesus is the Master Carpenter, and ultimate healer of our souls!
Wow, that is a LOT of duct tape!! Are they at least a variety of shades & designs?? Have you seen those leopard print ones?
I was so proud of myself for fixing our vacuum cleaner the other day with duct tape! That said – even duct tape is a temporary fix or patch. With Jesus we get a whole new.. shoe, vacuum cleaner, or stove.. he makes all things new and whole.
Tiffiney! I’d be wary! Next thing you know, they’d be telling you “If duct tape can’t fix it, then you need more duct tape”. Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you.
Love this! We do want quick easy and yes, too often ineffective fixes. So thankful for Jesus the only One who can meet our greatest needs and fix what is broken within us. Blessings!
“Because I do know that there’s nothing my Jesus can’t do.” Amen, Boma! Thanks for linking up at the #LMMLinkup. Blessings to you!
We won’t have a linkup tomorrow per the holiday.
Loved your thoughts! There is a hidden power that cures our sorrow, turns bad circumstance into good one, and motivates us throughout this wonderful life.
This is such a great post! Duct tape is great at fixing lots of things, but as you have so ably stated, NOT everything. I wonder if those who would try to fix a woman’s shoe with duct tape and who say that anything not fixable with duct tape is not worth fixing would sing a different tune if required to fix the dents in their car caused by a traffic accident.
Brilliant. I loved every word.
Thanks for visiting, Debbie. Blessings to you.
This made me smile. We are a family who uses duct tape for just about everything, but there are quite a few problems that can only be fixed by Jesus. Thanks for the reminder!
There really are things only Jesus can fix! Thanks for visiting, Stacey. Blessings to you.

Thanks for visiting, Joanne. Blessings to you.
So good.
I appreciate the tender heart beating behind these words. And yes, there are some things that even duct tape cannot repair. So thankful that Jesus is the One who binds up the broken with something far stronger and more permanent.

Very true! Duct tape is great, but Jesus’ power to fix things is infinitely better!
Amen! Thanks for visiting, Lesley. Blessings to you.
Tell that your words really coming from the heart and I really do appreciate that.
Thanks very much, Lilah. Blessings to you.
I love it! Duct tape can fix most physical things, but Jesus fixes EVERYTHING!
Amen! Thanks for visiting, Renee. Blessings to you.
Love this post!!! Duct tape can’t fix everything, but Jesus can. Amen.
Yes He can! Thanks for visiting, Melissa. Blessings to you.
We’re fans of duct tape in our house. But following Jesus Christ is what keeps us together–in more ways than one. God bless!
Amen! Thanks for visiting, Anne. Blessings to you.

Yes! He will help us find a way. Thanks for visiting, Anne. Blessings to you.
Amen. Duct tape is a solver and fixer of many problems, but not all. Only Jesus can do it all. Loved this.
So true! Only Jesus can do it all. Thanks for visiting, Theresa. Blessings to you.
I love this analogy so much! Duct Tape Jesus! I’m thankful to rely on someone far stronger than duct tape, too.
Amen! Jesus is stronger! Thanks for visiting, Annie. Blessings to you.
So true! What a great way to connect our need for Jesus with our everyday circumstances!
Thanks for visiting, Emily. Blessings to you. And yes, we do need Jesus in our everyday circumstances.
Haha, this is so true and sweet. Jesus is my duct tape

Thanks for visiting, Brittany. Blessings to you.

Ha! More shades and varieties means more duct tape! And, yes, Jesus does make all things new. Thanks for visiting, Christina. Blessings to you.
I feel we could have a kids song from this “God is Better than the Duct Tape is” But it is true.
Yes, let’s sing it! Thanks for visiting, Sandra. Blessings to you.
Hi Boma!
Sure, we need Jesus, He’s the one who gives us a perspective.
Thank you,
Edna Davidsen
So true, Edna. Jesus gives us new perspectives. Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you.
Jesus > Duct Tape! <3 Great post, friend! Blessings!
He is! Thanks for visiting, Liz. Blessings to you.
Ok…so I have a new prespective on duct tape. Guess it’s time for me to go out and buy some. How did I survive all of these years? ?
Tiffiney! I’d be wary! Next thing you know, they’d be telling you “If duct tape can’t fix it, then you need more duct tape”. Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you.

Amen! Thanks for visiting and letting me know, Gayl. Blessings to you.
Boma … a sheer gift to run into you this morning via someone’s blog. I was drawn by your avatar and your site and your words made me smile big.
Even before 7:30 am.
Bless you …
Glad you found a reason to smile here, Linda. Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you.

Good point, Ruth! They’d probably be singing a different tune. Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you.
