Earnestly contend for the faith

Hear the call –

There is the need for custodians of the truth to defend it, and contend for the faith we have received from God.

Hear the call and take your place, soldier of the cross.

Discard the lie that we’ve been saved, only to wait for Jesus to come back.

Just stop a while and consider the goings-on these days –

Do you still recognize the faith handed to us by our fathers?

While we slept (Or maybe just avoided confrontation) false teachers crept in.

After we let down our guards (Or just became really careless) they took the reins.

So now they’re preachers.

And worship leaders.

And they tell us what to do.

Now the Church is losing her culture and the distinction between her and the world is no longer that easy to see.

Brethren, these things ought not to be so!

It’s easy to slide into a defeatist attitude and not even be aware of it –

Then we see the anomalies and blatant disregard for God in His Church, and still be quiet.

We see seekers of the truth taken advantage of in Church, and just look away.

We get caught up in only the motions of the Church, and not even acknowledge her power.

And then we come into a place of platitudes, apathy, and just-getting-by.

God is watching.

And this avoidance of confrontation is not holy at all!

It is docile and nothing like the legacy our fathers left us –

They confronted kings with the truth.

They were lone voices in entire nations.

They told the truth even when no one listened.

The prophet Jeremiah declared:

…His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. Jeremiah 20:9.

There are many who would be believe and be saved if only we’d show them what genuine faith is.

Some of these lost ones believe that the counterfeit faith they have is the real one. We cannot blame them because if they’ve not been shown what true faith is, how can they tell that what they have is not real?

God is watching and counting on us to do our part.

We must remember that He bought this same Church with His life, and He has fitted us with all that we need to walk successfully in our calling.

Would you commit to doing your part?

Would you be faithful in the purpose He has called you to?

As He leads, would you follow?

Or would you hide and do nothing while you wait for His return?

If you call God Father, keep His house and His purpose.

Step up, and stand in your place.

God is watching.

If He did not spare the angels that worked against His purpose. And Sodom and Gomorrah too, surely there’s judgment awaiting this generation.

Hear the call again today.

Stand with truth and contend for the faith

And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Jude 22-23.

And make sure that the faith you hand down to your children is the faith we received from God.

It would be so easy to take up the world’s standards, but you are so right that we have been given the Lord’s standard to uphold. Thank you for this good call today! Blessings to you!

  4. We have come a loooong way from that of our forefathers, haven’t we? It’s certainly disconcerting.

  5. Often we think that our society is the first to face the onslaught of false teaching and unbelief, but Paul reminds us otherwise. We need to recognize the threat and then do exactly what he instructed… contend for the faith! Thanks for the reminder!
