From the mouth of babes….
Recently, something happened at my class at children Sunday school. We had just finished discussing the story of Naomi and Ruth. Last minute, I decided to use the opportunity to mention Boaz (Just to pique interests for the next lesson!). When it was time to pray, I can’t say I was prepared for what came out of the mouth of the six year old girl who said the prayer! I believe it’s a powerful prayer (prophetic, even!). So I’m sharing this prayer, from the mouth of babes….
May our husbands farm and give us food if there’s famine in our land.
My chains must be broken….
I came across some songs that were new to me that had me thinking for a while. Consider these thoughts shared….
Am I sleepwalking through life?
I have these questions I don’t know if I should be asking.
(And then this…!) I don’t feel my chains anymore, they must be broken!
Affliction shall not rise up the second time….
God’s Word is true. It would only be our truth though, if we believe it. I came across this verse again recently….
What do ye imagine against the LORD? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. Nahum 1:9
Does writing feel like going to war sometimes…?
No? Only me? I need all the prayers you’re willing to share then, friends! But I do believe this verse can put things in perspective….
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
Grace for faithfulness….
May we find and grow in God’s grace that enables us to be faithful to His call on our lives.
Thanks for sharing these encouragements! I appreciated them so much!
Thanks for visiting, Karen. Many blessings to you!
That is a profound statement.
It is! Thanks for visiting, Rebecca. Many blessings to you!
I would be curious to know if she grows up to marry a farmer. What beautiful words to come from a young child. Makes me think of how we are called to come as children. she was open to say the words the Spirit put on her heart/mouth. Such a blessing! Many Thanks 8)
So true, Debra! We must come as children, always. And we’ll just have to wait and manage our curiosity as best as we can! Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you!
Writing is like going to war. How true!
Thanks for visiting, Tim. Blessings to you!
Thanks so much for sharing this. Teaching Sunday school is an amazing experience. What a beautiful, insightful prayer! …Especially in light of how many family farms are going out of business.
It truly is an insightful prayer! Thanks for visiting, Cheryl. Blessings to you!
I also teach Sunday School and I love how pure and genuine kids are to the truths of God’s Word. That’s the reason why Jesus said that we must become like one of them. Thanks for sharing
Exactly! Thanks for visiting, Carolina. Blessings to you!
Beautiful prayer. Children always amaze me at the statements they make in complete innocence that truly reveal the character of Christ. God truly uses them to show Himself to us grown ups.
We can’t always tell what would come out of their mouths! Thanks for visiting, Brittany. Blessings to you!
I love it! I love how children’s prayer are just so real and heartfelt. Too cute! ?
Real and heartfelt! Yes!! Thanks for visiting, Kath. Blessings to you!
Out of the mouths of babe’s indeed!

Blessings,
Jennifer
Good to know, Jennifer! Really! Thanks for visiting. Blessings to you!
Thank you for this thought-provoking blog! I work as a preschool teacher and often record a quote of the day. The Mother’s Day after my ill health caused my daughter to be sent to my ex to live, a child felt the Spirit’s leading to ask his mom if he could sit next to me and hold my hand as I wept in church. The next week, he gave me a small cross that I keep in my purse always. Children are such a blessing!
What a blessing that child was, Candace! Thanks for sharing! Many blessings to you!
Hey Boma, A 6 year old said that? Must be God. ?
Definitely! Thanks for visiting, Tiffiney. Many blessings to you!
our children and grandchildren have profound things to tell us … usually when we’re not prepared or even quite aware!
these are blessed moments for sure. i only wish i had written all their fine wisdom down along the way.
thanks for this post, Boma!
They surely do! Thanks for visiting Linda. Many blessings to you!
I love working with children because you never know what they will say next and sometimes they have the best insights! I definitely feel like writing is a battle at times and I love how you highlight 2 Timothy 1:7 – I hadn’t thought about that in relation to writing before, but it is great encouragement to keep going.
Exactly! You just never know, with children! Thanks for visiting, Lesley. Many blessings to you!
Thanks for the encouraging post! And thanks for linking up at InstaEncouragments!
Thanks for visiting Patsy. Many blessings to you!
I’ve never noticed that verse before: “Affliction shall not rise up the second time….” So thankful for grace!
Yes!!! So thankful for grace! Thanks for visiting, Lisa. Many blessings to you!
Thanks for sharing. That’s an interesting and deep thing for a 6 year old to say. Maybe it is something prophetic either for someone else, or maybe something that will take place in her own life.
Yes, Robert, I believe it’s prophetic! Thanks for visiting. Many blessings to you!
I loved this post, especially the prayer from your Sunday School class!
Thanks very much, Joanne. Blessings to you!
Boma,
I enjoyed your encouraging words. I too believe we should listen to your children more, treasuring what they say… just like this.
Yes, we should! Thanks for visiting, Deb. Blessings to you!
