Goodness and Apathy

The fruit of the Spirit is goodness….

She knows what that is (because she knows what it’s not) –

And she doesn’t even have to look that far.

This weight of apathy that has become her cross must be the meaning of what goodness is not.

And the fruit of the Spirit is goodness….

She would be concerned, but then the cross would not be the one that has become her own.

She. Just. Does. Not. Care.

And the weight of this cross is heavy,

Especially as the fruit of the Spirit is goodness….

Goodness –

That state of being good – virtuous, righteous and not apathetic.

The shedding of this weight then, must be a gift from God.

And a miracle –

One that she is desperately in need of.

She would pray for this miracle, but then you’d have to care – and then the cross would not be the one that has become her own.

So she stands in need of a miracle she is unable to pray for, trusting that she would be graced with this favour.

Because the fruit of the Spirit is goodness….

God alone is good. He does only good things, and the shedding of this weight is not too hard for Him to do.

She is not without hope.

Help is not that far away.

Because the fruit of the Spirit is goodness.
